The standard cedar stockade privacy fence is our most economical wood fence. You can install it with pre-built cedar panels, or we can build it by the stick for a beautiful custom look.

Cedar is a naturally beautiful material for building a fence. It has been used for fencing longer than ornamental iron, aluminum, and metal, but not as long as stone fencing.

Cedar fence heights can be customized to fit your needs; the most common sizes in Oklahoma are 6′ and 8′. You can also choose between 4″ wide pickets or 6″ wide pickets and select how far apart or close together the pickets are placed on our custom stick-built fences.

They can be stained in various shades or painted in any color. This adds a little bit of personal design and helps preserve the wood. Of course, some of our clients prefer the natural wood grain appearance.

Cap & Trim is a beautiful addition to any cedar privacy fence. It is commonly added to standard cedar privacy fences, horizontal designs, and board-on-board fences.

Some refer to the flat cap along the top as a “critter run.”  This creates a very sturdy appearance and a very sturdy fence.

Horizontal fences have been around forever (e.g., prairie fences) but have recently been popular in central Oklahoma. With an intelligent layout and thoughtful materials, a horizontal fence can turn a ho-hum yard into an outdoor show-stopper.

Sometimes called “good neighbor fences” because they look good from both sides of the fence, the uninterrupted lines of a horizontal fence draw the eye into the distance, instantly making outdoor areas appear more spacious.

Shadowbox fences are a style of fence that looks good on both sides of the fence. You don’t have to worry about which side faces in or out, which makes it “neighbor friendly” except for the inside posts because it’s aesthetically pleasing to you and your neighbor.

Another positive of the shadow box is allowing air to flow through the fence. Due to its spacing and design, this type of fence will extend its life span.

Before installing a shadowbox fence, weed-eating underneath the fence is one thing to consider. A picket on both sides creates a 2-3” area underneath the pickets that is difficult to maintain.

Board-on-board privacy fences provide security and privacy. In today’s age of “zero lot lines,” the desire for ultra-privacy is even more critical.

When a standard privacy fence is installed, the wood goes on the fence wet (or green), and in a very short period, the wood dries out and causes the fence’s pickets to shrink about am 1/8 of an inch.

This minimal shrinkage allows daylight through the boards and just enough space for you (or your dogs!) to see someone through the gap or vice-versa.

Fence OKC often suggests building a board-on-board privacy fence to avoid this problem. The style is made with each 6-inch board overlapped by another 6-inch board, with a 3/4-inch overlap achieved on both sides. Thus, as the boards shrink, it does not allow daylight gaps.

Board-on-board privacy fences can be installed vertically or horizontally. Often, a client will enhance their board-on-board fence with cap & trim for a more eye-appealing look.
